When it comes to performance, the Dodge Hornet has the HR-V beat in all regards. Although both vehicles are equipped with four-cylinder engines, the Hornet’s turbocharged powertrain delivers superior performance in both speed and power output. Additionally, the Hornet’s responsive 9-speed automatic transmission is a plus to performance-oriented drivers.

Technology & Safety

Technology abounds inside the 2024 Dodge Hornet, with its standard 12.3-inch driver digital display, 10.25-inch Uconnect® 5 multimedia system and panoramic power sunroof. Available features include a 14-speaker Harman Kardon® premium sound system, and the Hornet Tech Pak that includes features like Traffic Jam, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, as well as a 360-degree camera. Although the Honda HR-V was recently fully updated, it still lags behind the Hornet with its half-digital, half-analog driver display, standard 7-inch centre touchscreen, and lack of a 360-degree camera. The Honda’s saving grace is the inclusion of Honda Sensing®, the brand’s suite of safety and driver assistance technologies as standard on the HR-V.

The 2024 Dodge Hornet is available in two trim levels, the GT and GT Plus, with manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP) staring at $41,440* and $47,440* respectively. On the other hand, the 2024 Honda HR-V is offered in four trim levels, with prices starting at $31,093.50* for an LX-B 2WD model and going all the way up to $40,043.50* for the range-topping EX-L Navi. Although there is a slight price difference between the two vehicles, the Hornet’s extensive list of standard features, impressive performance figures and overall more premium interior and exterior design warrant the additional cost.
