Capable & Efficient Engine Options

The 2023 Ram 1500 can be equipped with five powerful and highly capable powertrain options. The standard engine is the brand’s venerable 3.6L Pentastar™ V6 with eTorque that makes 305 horsepower and a total of 355 lb.-ft. of torque, thanks to its eTorque mild-hybrid system. When properly equipped, this engine is rated to tow up to 3,496 kgs or 7,710 lbs! Those looking for maximum hauling capabilities should opt for the available 5.7L HEMI® V8 with eTorque that puts out 395 horsepower and a massive 545 lb.-ft. of total torque, one again thanks to the mild-hybrid eTorque system. Truck owners looking for a vehicle that can both tow and have a fuel efficient powertrain should look no further than a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 equipped Ram 1500 pickup truck. With 260 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque, this diesel workhorse engine is rated to tow a maximum of 5,696 kgs (12,560 lbs) while putting out fuel economy metrics of 8.0L/100km in the city and 11.1L/100 on the highway!

eTorque Launch

The 2023 Ram 1500 features an eTorque 48-volt mild hybrid system that adds up to 135 lb-ft of launch torque for enhanced low-speed acceleration. This feature is especially useful when towing a heavy load, giving owners the confidence of knowing that a boost in available torque is accessible to them. The eTorque system is standard on the 3.6L Pentastar™ V6 engine and is available to be equipped onto the 5.7L HEMI® V8.

Competitive Payload

Most people focus strictly on maximum towing figures when researching the capability of a pickup truck. It’s important to know a vehicle’s payload capacity if you plan on towing or hauling with it. Payload can be defined as the maximum amount of weight a vehicle can carry. This includes everything in the interior cabin, truck bed, and in the case of towing a trailer, the weight of the trailer pushing down on the tow hitch. Rest assured that by purchasing a properly equipped 2023 Ram 1500, the truck is rated to have a maximum payload of 2,300 lb (1,043 kg), a highly competitive figure in the full-size truck segment.
